Booking your first fishing charter in the Maldives? Here's exactly how it works with us, from the first WhatsApp message to stepping back onto your resort jetty with a cooler of fillets - so there are zero surprises on the day.
Booking: Simpler Than You Think
Everything runs on WhatsApp. You message us your resort, dates, and what you'd like to catch (or just "surprise us"). We reply within the hour with a recommendation matched to the season and conditions. No deposit, no booking forms, no payment portals. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before, and if weather forces a cancellation we reschedule or refund in full.
The Morning Of
We pick you up directly from your resort's jetty - Conrad Rangali, LUX*, Centara Grand, or any island in South Ari Atoll. No transfers to organise, no meeting points. The boat comes to you. Full-day trips typically start 7-8am; night fishing departs around sunset.
What's On The Boat
Everything. Shimano and Daiwa rods and reels matched to your trip, all lures and terminal tackle, fish finder and GPS, ice, drinks, and snacks. The 38ft cruiser adds a toilet, shower, and shade for full-day comfort. You bring sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, and a light long-sleeve shirt - that's the entire packing list. (Spearfishing is the one exception: bring your own fins, mask, snorkel, wetsuit, and weights - we provide the spearguns, floats, and a safety guide.)
"I've Never Fished Before"
Neither had many of our best catches' owners. The crew rigs everything, casts for you if you want, coaches you through the fight, and handles every fish at the boat. We've had complete beginners land 30kg tuna on their first trip. If you're travelling with kids or mixed company, night fishing and reef fishing are the gentlest entry points - short, calm, and everyone catches fish.
During The Trip
The captain reads conditions constantly and moves spots without being asked - that's what you're paying for. A typical full day covers several different grounds. Seasickness worth mentioning: inside the atoll the water is calm; offshore in the SW monsoon it can roll. If you're prone to it, take a tablet an hour before departure and eat a light breakfast.
Your Catch
Whatever you keep, the crew cleans and fillets on board. Take it back to your resort (most resort restaurants will cook your catch - ask them in advance) or have the crew prepare fresh sashimi and ceviche right on the boat.
Pricing With No Surprises
Prices are per boat, not per person, and they're final - no service charges, fuel surcharges, or taxes added later. The 28ft vessel starts at $800 for a half day; the 38ft cruiser at $1,500.
